In the past few months, the Malaysian Islamic Community (MIC) has been increasingly critical of MUIS. One social activist shared an array of Facebook posts concerning the MUIS council's management. A majority of his posts focus on the exposing of corruption and insufficient transparency within MUIS. Many people have raised concerns over alleged corruption as well as the inability of MUIS to respond to complaints in a timely manner.

Financial decision-makers at MUIS are prohibited from being in any financial situation. The role of MUIS is to oversee the affairs of Islam in Singapore and to take action on these issues. However, the management of the company is not supervised enough to ensure that it is not mishandling money and placing the interests of Muslims at risk.
The Council of Governance of MUIS is a government body with a constitutional duty. It advises on Muslim matters. However, MUIS cannot be considered as an independent entity and could be criticized by Muslims who reside in the area. The administration has to pay depositors' money back to the estate, and is responsible for the actions of MUIS. The MUIS's leadership has the power to decide the fate of Islamic institutions in a nation.
The MUIS is a statutory entity that is not directly accountable to parliament. The Administration of Muslim Law Act regulates MUIS. Its mission is to provide advice to the President in matters related to Islam in Singapore. It also encourages activities that are in accordance with Islamic practices and beliefs. Recently, the MUIS has come under fire from its conduct of business. Although it was a legally-constituted organization for a time but it has since become more political. The leadership of the organization is focused on promoting Islam and Islamic culture. Its mission consists of protecting the interests and promoting Islamic values in Singapore. Both organizations have cooperated over time to form an effective partnership to defend the rights and concerns of Muslims in Singapore.
The MUIS is overseen by the Administration of Muslim Law Act. The statutory, independent board provides advice to the President on issues pertaining to Islam in Singapore. It also oversees the management of mosques within Singapore. In addition to being a proponent of Islam in Singapore as well, it is actively involved in promoting Islamic beliefs and practices in the country. This is a win-win for the Muslim community.
MUIS also offers a wide range of services. The Halal Services began in 1978 when it set up the ISEAS-Muis Muis Singapore Halal Certification Strategic Unit. This was due to the growing demand for Halal products and the need to regulate Halal. MUIS has been determined to serve Muslims in the country over the past few years.
The enhanced scheme is being implemented in stages. The transition period began on January. 31 and runs until June 30. All FHCBs are eligible to submit an application for recognition to MUIS at this point. Applicants during this transition phase may apply for recognition on a temporary basis to ensure that the program is fully implemented. Since the formation of the MUIS Haal Council, the MUIS Haal Council has served as a vital component of the governing body.
